The State Bank of Pakistan has issued instructions for citizens wishing to receive new currency notes on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.

The State Bank activates the 8877 short code service in the second week of Ramadan. Citizens can send an SMS from their mobile phone with their national identity card number, followed by a space and the code of the preferred bank branch and send it to 8877. A unique transaction code and branch address will be received in response. After receiving the SMS, citizens should go to the relevant bank branch with the original national identity card and its copy. After verifying the transaction code, the bank staff usually provides packets of new notes of Rs 10, 20 and 50.
If the 8877 service is busy, citizens can also contact their bank branch directly. Most commercial banks keep a limited number of new notes for their account holders and provide them on a priority basis. New notes are also available at the offices of the State Bank Banking Services Corporation in major cities like Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad, where notes are exchanged on a first-come, first-served basis. Banks load relatively clean Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes into ATMs during the last ten days of Ramadan, which can be used for Eid payments.

اسٹیٹ بینک رمضان کے دوسرے ہفتے میں 8877 شارٹ کوڈ سروس فعال کرتا ہے۔ شہری اپنے موبائل سے ایس ایم ایس میں اپنا شناختی کارڈ نمبر لکھ کر اسپیس کے بعد پسندیدہ بینک برانچ کا کوڈ درج کریں اور 8877 پر بھیج دیں۔ جواب میں ایک منفرد ٹرانزیکشن کوڈ اور برانچ کا پتہ موصول ہوگا۔ایس ایم ایس موصول ہونے کے بعد شہری اصل شناختی کارڈ اور اس کی کاپی کے ساتھ متعلقہ بینک برانچ جائیں۔ بینک عملہ ٹرانزیکشن کوڈ کی تصدیق کے بعد عموماً 10، 20 اور 50 روپے کے نئے نوٹوں کے پیکٹس فراہم کرتا ہے۔
اگر 8877 سروس مصروف ہو تو شہری براہ راست اپنی بینک برانچ سے بھی رابطہ کر سکتے ہیں۔ اکثر کمرشل بینک اپنے اکاؤنٹ ہولڈرز کیلئے محدود تعداد میں نئے نوٹ رکھتے ہیں اور انہیں ترجیحی بنیادوں پر فراہم کرتے ہیں۔کراچی، لاہور اور اسلام آباد جیسے بڑے شہروں میں اسٹیٹ بینک بینکنگ سروسز کارپوریشن کے دفاتر میں بھی نئے نوٹ دستیاب ہوتے ہیں جہاں پہلے آئیے پہلے پائیے کی بنیاد پر نوٹ تبدیل کیے جاتے ہیں۔بینک رمضان کے آخری دس دنوں میں اے ٹی ایمز میں نسبتاً صاف ستھرے 500 اور 1000 روپے کے نوٹ لوڈ کرتے ہیں جو عیدی دینے کیلئے استعمال کیے جا سکتے ہیں۔
